I’m looking forward to the “Word of South” literary and music festival in Tallahassee’s Cascades Park. On Saturday, I’ll moderate a panel with three authors who won Florida Book Awards in 2021 for nonfiction works about installment sales schemes in the 1950s (Jason Vuic); the Key Marco Cat, which is an extraordinary archaeological artifact from Southwest Florida (Austin Bell); and African Americans and urban policing in southern cities during the early 20th century (Brandon Jett). We’ll cover the substance of their fascinating books as well as the craft of writing. The panel will begin at 2:30, Saturday, April 9, at the Midtown Reader stage in the Parkview Event space overlooking Cascades Park, accessed via the staircase behind the Amphitheater. Hope to see you there! #wos22
