I am nearing the end of a month of R&R in Washington, DC, and the Northeast, so I’m preparing for the next round of events for my new oral history book, “Ninety Miles and a Lifetime Away: Memories of Early Cuban Exiles.” Here’s what’s scheduled for June:
Wednesday, June 15, 12 noon – Tampa Bay History Center, 801 Water St., Tampa, Florida, in conversation with historian Gary Mormino, resident scholar with the Florida Humanities Council and author of “Dreams in the New Century: Instant Cities, Shattered Hopes, and Florida’s Turning Point.”
Friday, June 24, 12:15 pm – Writer’s Circle at Leadership Florida’s 40th Annual Meeting, Loew’s Sapphire Falls Resort at University Orlando, 6601 Adventure Way, Orlando, Florida.
Monday, June 27, 2 pm – Bookstore1Sarasota, 117 S. Pineapple St., Sarasota, Florida, in conversation with the bookstore’s Bryn Durgin.
Tuesday, June 28, 7 pm – Tombolo Books, 2153 First Ave. S., St. Petersburg, Florida, in conversation with Craig Pittman, journalist and author of “Oh, Florida! How America’s Weirdest State Influences the Rest of America,” and narrator Jose Valiente of Tampa, a retired accountant.
