So pleased to see that the City of Tampa honored Jose Valiente on the 50th anniversary of his coming to the United States in October 1962. Jose is one of the narrators in my oral history book about Cuban exiles, “Ninety Miles and a Lifetime Away: Memories of Early Cuban Exiles.” He worked his way through the University of South Florida with a “Cuban Loan” from the government, repaid it, and went on to become leading accountant in the city.
