When I was in Tampa for an event for my new oral history book about Cuban exiles, I took some time to see the new “Cuban Pathways” exhibit at the Tampa Bay History Center in downtown Tampa. It’s an excellent exhibit that, in a remarkably compact space, tells the story of 500 years of Cuban history, from pre-Columbian times to modern day, and the diaspora that we are still living through. What most impressed me were the nuances in the historical narrative that accompanied the fascinating cultural and historic artifacts in the exhibit.
