En route to Orlando on Tuesday, I spent a few hours catching up with Mario Cartaya of Fort Lauderdale, who happened to be in Gainesville as I was passing through. Mario is one of the 54 narrators in my oral history book about Cuban exiles, “Ninety Mikes and a Lifetime Away,” and recently published a memoir about his experiences in Cuba and coming to the US.
