I’m so pleased to be doing an encore presentation of my course about Cuban exiles, “Early Cuban Exiles: Memories of Loss, Struggle, and Rebirth,” for FSU’s OLLI life-long learning program. I created the course right after the 2022 publication of my oral history book about the 600,000 Cuban refugees who came to the US from 1959 to 1973, and I gave the course again last year. This time, the course will be three 90-minute class sessions instead of two two-hour sessions, so I have added more personal testimonies from those who lived through the exile experience as well as new background material and visual images for context. Plus, l have updated the course to reflect the estimated 850,000 Cubans who have arrived in the US since 2022 as this epic diaspora continues. My course explains how the diaspora began. The course will be held on the FSU campus at the Claude Pepper Center, Room 263, 636 W. Call Street, Tallahassee. Classes will be held from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Thursday, February 20 and 27 and March 6. Online registration is underway at www.olli.fsu.edu Hope you can join us!! #patriayvida #olli #Cuba #OralHistory
