I just finished teaching a course about Cuban exiles, based on my recent oral history book, “Ninety Miles and a Lifetime Away: Memories of Early Cuban Exiles.” FSU’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute offers interesting courses every semester, and I was pleased that they wanted me to teach one based on my book. It featured excerpts from interviews with some of my book’s 54 narrators as well as a lot of photographs, maps, and images from the period. It concluded with a look at the current state of Cuban migration to the US. More than 200,000 Cubans are expected to come to the US this year, most across our Southwest land border, because the diaspora that began in 1959 is continuing. Thanks, OLLI. #oralhistory #patriayvida #cuba
